I posted a few times about the DARPA Grand Challenge Robot Race. It was a race of robot cars that had to drive themselves across the desert. I watched on the Internet as the little dots moved slowly around a map of the course. Soon we'll be able to see it on TV, since PBS's NOVA has a special on it coming soon. In Boston, it is on WGBH on March 28. Program those TiVO's soon.
The next DARPA challenge will be the Urban Challenge. It'll be interesting to see how well the vehicles do in following the traffic laws. I think that'll be one of the most difficult aspects of the competition.
